Don’t have a Multitouch Table yet? Have one, but need something smaller for testing? Building a small portable multitouch pad will allow you to test software and experiment on a smaller scale while building your full table or when away from your multitouch screen. Have fun and make a MTmini! This uses Front Diffused Illumination, with normal ambient light (infrared not required or needed) and a normal off-the-shelf webcam (IR filter can still be in place).

-How’s it Work?-

For this to work, all you need is a room with (at least) some light. The results will be best when the room lighting is even (no bright lights shinning from one direction onto the multitouch pad).

When you place you fingers on the surface, shadows are created where your fingers are. The webcam sees these shadows and sends the image to the tracking software which tracks the shadows as they

What is Rebirth ?

Rebirth is the “rebirth” of 3 fabulous Roland machines : two TB303 bassline and lead synthesizers ( top of the picture),one TR 808 and one TR 909, two drum machines (bottom). Propellerhead sold a lot of copies of this excellent and world famous software, acclaimed for years in the electro and computerized music. The look and the sounds of these machines are exactly those of the original Roland machines, and the re-creation is quite perfect. I have been told that an sound engineer and analog synthie expert listening to Rebirth was unable to tell if this was a software emulating the TB303 or if what he could hear was an original Roland machine. Is this true ? I really don’t know, but the fact is that this giveaway from Propellerhead is really a great deal and for you an excellent occasion for discovering and using this excellent software. Have fun !
